In 1995, two great families of the wine world, the Frescobaldi family of Florence and the family of Robert Mondavi of the Napa Valley in California decided to work together to pursue a common goal, an Italian wine of absolute class: so arised the Luce della Vite estate. In 1998, Luce della Vite started a collaboration with Jacopo Poli to create an excellent quality Grappa which reflects the terroir of origin: so borned the Grappa Luce della Vite, made from the marc of Sangiovese and Merlot. Due to the historic steam alembic of the Poli Distillery, one of the oldest still in use in Italy, it was possible to obtain a Grappa of great character, high in French oak barrels in order to achieve a perfect sensory harmony and elegance equal to wine.
Luce della Vite is an aged grappa that exhibits a brilliant golden texture with hints of straw and silver, with an exceptional clarity.
The nose opens with notes of fruitcake, cinnamon, nutmeg and honey, which develop into tropical aromas of stewed exotic fruit (banana, pineapple) and cream/vanilla, with a bouquet of great class.
In the mouth, the initial approach is severe, concentrated, recalls sherry, honey and mildly spicy; the palate expands to touch the fruit baked (nectarines), cloves, prunes, dried black grapes. The final shows great finesse and
aromatic complexity.
Ideal at the end of the meal, accompanies with elegance dark chocolate.
